执大象,天下往。往而不害,安平泰。
乐与饵,过客止。道之出口,淡乎其无味,视之不足见,听之不足闻,用之不可既。
Whoever applies the Tao will then win the heart of all peoples of the empire. They run to him, and he does not harm them; he offers them peace, stillness, and serenity.
The beautiful music and the exquisite food can retain passing travelers. But when the Tao comes out of the mouth, it is flat and tasteless. We look at it and we cannot see it well; we listen to it and we cannot hear it well; but when you use it, you cannot exhaust it.
