和大怨,必有馀怨;安可以为善?
是以圣人执左契,而不责于人。有德司契,无德司彻。
天道无亲,常与善人。

If you want to settle the great enmities, there will necessarily remain traces. How could they become virtuous?
So a wise soul keeps the proof of credit but does not claim anything from the borrowers.
The one who has virtue simply keeps the proof of credit; the one who has not virtue claims reimbursement.
The way of heaven has not favorites. It constantly helps virtuous men.
